Last weekend, not only did I get up with Spike Lee at 40 Acres & A Mule for Spike’s Joint Pop Up Shop in Brooklyn, I also discovered another dope pop up shop in the Williamsburgh neighborhood.
Having once been off the beaten path of Wythe Avenue, shop In God We Trust now sits on main artery of Williamsburgh – Beford Avenue – near its N 10th Street intersection. At the shop’s new location, pedestrian traffic strides into a space that has a vintage air — which actually comes from the aromas that are available for purchase — along with a mix of men’s & women’s apparel, jewerly, and objects.
In a synergetic collaboration with host shop In God We Trust, BKLYN Dry Goods was established in the back section of the shop – a traveling pop up that invites the fashion savvy to “pop in for some rad vintage menswear, objects, and oddities”. A mix between speakeasy and vintage goods shop, I was able to chill with the creators of BKLYN Dry Goods, Jahn Hall & Kurt Uhlendorf and swig some whiskey to be truly transported into their carefully curated aesthetic.
The energy was dope. We felt like old friends. We spent the afternoon just chatting about the importance of unique and personal style. My dude who was in town was able to pick up a piece out of the collection – an all-around leather varsity jacket that had his football jersey number, initials for his position, and his year of birth.
