John Q. Public has been impatiently waiting for the announcement of the newest iPhone since the Internet was sent into a frenzy after a drunk employee mishaply lost a prototype of the Apple gadget last month. Well, it’s finally here. Steve Jobs, the king of hyperbole, took to the stage and finally unveiled the newest iPhone this morning at a developer’s conference in California. We took to Twitter to report on the day’s exciting developments.

So Apple is notorious for keeping their upcoming products under Area 54-like lock and key from snooping tech reporters. Up until this point, the newest incarnation of Apple’s trendsetting iPhone, the iPhone 4G or the iPhone HD, was only a bag of speculation. That is, until an Apple software engineer seemingly took an iPhone 4G prototype off campus and accidentally left it in a Silicon Valley bar, much to his and his company’s dismay. Leading tech blog Gizmodo got their antsy little mitts on it and exclusively published photos for the world to see.

So it’s official. Apple’s holy grail of hype is here and it’s called the iPad. At an unveiling event in San Francisco earlier today, Apple’s head honcho Steve Jobs held up a 10-inch touch screen that he referred to as a “third device” that will exist somewhere between and compliment laptops and smartphones. So looking at the video and the published online reports it seems that Apple took what’s best about the iPhone and what’s best about the Mac and created their mobile dream machine.

Tomorrow, Apple is expected to announce its highly-anticipated tablet computer the i-Pad. Not only that, a rumor is circulating that the iPhone may be coming to Verizon as soon as tomorrow, thus leaving AT&T without its exclusive stranglehold of Apple’s celebrated mobile device. The move could also set up the launch of the iPhone 4G.

Apple revamped its desktop and laptop lines Tuesday, dramatically redesigning the iMac all-in-one and MacBook laptop, and also adding a few updates to its Mac Mini line of small-scale desktops. It also introduced a handful of updated peripherals, with a multitouch mouse bringing the most thorough changes.
