Holiday Road Tripping?

For everyone out there hitting the road this holiday season but are dreading that boring commute up the interstate, don’t fret.  Whether you’re riding solo or playing bus driver, there are alternatives to your conventional mundane, CD-changing, cell-phone incessant trip.

To the ambitious, solo driver who is trying not to nod off, I suggest comedy albums. Eddie Murphy’s “Raw” and Bill Cosby’s “Himself” are classics that are sure to have you cracking up, while other drivers pass by with the “What the hell?!? ” face on.

For those playing bus driver, let me first say I hope that your passengers have compensated you for your courtesy (ie gas money/ toll money) hey, it’s a recession out here.  Now that we have addressed proper passenger etiquette, let’s get back to business.

For those dull moments when you’re forced to listen to random phone conversations, bad music choice, and have already went to sleep two times and still have three hours left; please listen up.  Immediately insert car games. I know what your thinking “Im too old to be playing I Spy” but please bear with me. Games are a great way to past time, and in some cases can be extremely beneficial.

Let’s say your riding home with someone who you have been admiring, use this as an opportunity to throw some game.” 21 questions” is informative and charming. Whether in a group or in a one-on-one setting the premise is simple, keep asking questions until the other person can no longer think of one. The beauty of the game is there is no limit to the content of the questions, meaning there is a lot to be explored (wink, wink).

For group settings, “Two Truths and a Lie” always seem to liven things up.  The basis is to tell two truths and a lie, while the others try to figure out which ones are the truths and which one is the lie. Be careful with this one though; because if playing with a boyfriend or girlfriend you may find out something you don’t want to know— and you don’t want to unintentionally ruin your holiday.

Safe travels.
