There’s a new meaning to the term “minority ownership” being thrown about. Diddy and Magic Johnson are the latest Black cable channel owners with Revolt and Aspire, joining Oprah and Radio One owner Cathy Hughes. The two business moguls were on hand in DC recently to introduce their new Comcast cable brands at the Newseum, along with Robert Rodriguez and Constantino Schwarz, announce the launch of their own stations El Rey and Baby First Americas, which will target Latino viewers.
Diddy’s Revolt will reportedly be the “CNN of music” while Johnson will debut a “inspirational-themed” chnnel aimed at African-Americans on June 30th. The four channels are the first rollout of ten minority-targeted channels slated by Comcast.
